A gunman was found shot to death on his living room couch after a seven-hour standoff with police, authorities said Sunday.
The 37-year-old man, whose identity was not immediately released, may have killed himself, Azusa Police Capt. Karen Pihlak said.
Police were called about 3:30 p.m. Saturday by someone who said the man had fired a gun near him inside an apartment.
Officers saw the man on an upstairs landing, feared he was reaching for a gun and fired at him, according to a report from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The man ran back to the apartment and ignored orders to surrender, Pihlak said.
