Just in time for Valentine’s Day: Author Norton Juster will read and sign copies of the reissue of his 1963 book, “The Dot and the Line,” about a lovesick line competing with an uninhibited squiggle for the affections of a fickle dot. Continuous showings of the Academy Award-winning 1965 MGM short film version of the book will take place throughout the event. Juster will also sign copies of his acclaimed children’s book, “The Phantom Tollbooth.”

A traveling survey devoted to artists of color, “Celebration and Vision: The Hewitt Collection of African American Art” opens at the California African-American Museum in Exposition Park. The collection, which was amassed by a couple over 50 years and is now owned by the Bank of America, features 58 works by 20 artists including Romare Bearden, Elizabeth Catlett and Henry O. Tanner.
