San Diego 80, Loyola Marymount 62--Tyler Field scored a career-high 22 points and Dana White added 13, including a key stretch of eight consecutive points, to lead the Toreros (13-10, 5-5) over the Lions (7-16, 3-7) in a WCC game at San Diego.
White scored on a breakaway dunk, two driving baskets and two free throws to fuel a 10-2 run that increased the Toreros’ lead to 30-19 with 4:14 to play in the half.
That helped San Diego take a 37-26 halftime lead. White then made a three-point shot to start the second half, and the Toreros maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the game.
Field made eight of 13 shots and all six of his free throws.
San Diego avenged a 62-59 loss in the conference opener Jan. 12 that ended Loyola’s 15-game WCC losing streak.
Robert Davis scored 14 points to lead Loyola Marymount, which has lost three consecutive games and four of five.
