College to Offer Spanish Institute

Anticipating a repeat of its success with a pilot program last summer, College of the Canyons will again hold an Intensive Spanish Institute to teach professionals how to communicate in the language.
The classes will be offered over five weekdays from Jan. 12 to 19, with no sessions Jan. 15 in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
Each course--designed especially for professionals in education, medicine, law enforcement and business--is worth one unit, transferable to California State University campuses. A half-unit social conversation class also will be offered. Cost is $11 per unit.
College spokeswoman Sue Bozman said the only other community college in the state that offers the intensive instruction program is in Lake Tahoe.
The social conversation class will be held afternoons from 2-3:30 p.m. All others meet in the evening.
Registration is available through Jan. 12. For information, call Claudia Acosta at (661) 259-7800, Ext. 3530.
