Bergen Brunswig Unit Lands Defense Contract

Bergen Brunswig Corp. said its Bergen Brunswig Drug Co. unit has received a contract to supply pharmaceuticals to U.S. Defense Department hospitals and military bases in the Pacific Rim and Hawaii.
The deal for the Orange pharmaceutical supplier is valued at about $300 million over eight years, assuming all option terms are exercised.
Bergen also is the prime supplier at defense facilities in several other states.
Bergen shares closed Wednesday at $16, up 28 cents a share, on the New York Stock Exchange.
