OXNARD — An Oxnard man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder Sunday after he allegedly shot a bar patron in the neck.
John Zuniga, 54, is being held in Ventura County Jail, and no bail has been set.
Zuniga is suspected of shooting 43-year-old Jose Manual Amaro in an exchange in the parking lot of the Casbah Bar on West 5th Street.
Amaro told police he was smoking a cigarette in the parking lot just after midnight when Zuniga confronted him, shot him once at close range and fled in a vehicle.
The victim described Zuniga’s vehicle to police and gave them his name. Law enforcement officers later stopped the vehicle near Victoria Avenue and Gonzales Road.
Amaro was treated at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard and released.
