Police have arrested a Newport Beach resident in connection with the death of a 33-year-old Arizona man of an apparent drug overdose in a Laguna Beach hotel.
Timothy Knight of Scottsdale, Ariz., was dead when paramedics arrived at his room at the Laguna Brisas Hotel and Spa on Monday, Laguna Beach police said. David Waring, 30, also of Scottsdale, was found unconscious but survived.
Their friend Jeffrey Christian, 35, of Newport Beach, who had called for help, was arrested on suspicion of transporting, selling or furnishing a controlled substance, Laguna Beach Police Sgt. Darrin Lenyi said. Christian posted $25,000 bail and was released.
Investigators said Knight apparently overdosed on the drug GHB, a sedative.
