Rape, Not Revenge

Steve Hochman, previewing the upcoming Tori Amos release “Strange Little Girls” (Pop Eye, July 1), tells us that while Amos neither supports nor condemns Eminem for his misogynistic lyrics, she believes that words are very powerful, “like guns.”
He notes that her catalog includes the song “Me and a Gun,” in which “a woman seeks revenge after being raped.” It’s a personal account of the terror of being raped at gunpoint--not a word about revenge to be found.
