A 46-year-old Ontario woman who allegedly turned off a critically ill cancer patient’s ventilator early Tuesday was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, Upland Police Sgt. Ken Bonson said.
Mary Trujillo was arrested at her home at 3:30 a.m. after nurses at San Antonio Community Hospital saw her leave a 66-year-old woman’s room, Bonson said.
When they went in, they found that the ventilator had been turned off and the woman was having difficulty breathing. The ventilator was off for about 30 seconds, officials said.
Bonson said Trujillo was a family friend.
