City’s Contribution to Film Festival Is Doubled

The city is more than doubling its grant to the Newport Beach Film Festival, to $75,000 from this year’s $35,000.
“It’s going to help us grow,” said Todd Quartararo, director of marketing for the nonprofit festival, which is planning its third annual run for next April.
In its first two years, the festival, centered at Fashion Island, ran on budgets of about $500,000, most of it in donated goods and services. Quartararo said the increased city support could help expand the festival’s seminar offerings, which feature panels of screenwriters, directors and other film artists.
