Re: “A Neighborly Way to Build a Large House,” July 24: The residents of Palos Verdes Estates are indeed wise to try to protect the integrity and character of their community. One has only to drive through Beverly Hills to observe the disastrous visual blight caused by monster “mansionization.”
Why should existing residents who moved into the area because they liked its character have to adapt because someone new wants to change that character? Tony Ashai says it all when he admits that his real concern is money, money, money--for himself--and the quality of life for everyone else be damned.
