County to Install New Lights to Cut Energy Bill

Looking to trim Los Angeles County’s energy bill by $1.4 million annually, supervisors are spending $6.7 million this year on new energy-efficient lighting fixtures and at least one air-conditioning system in county-owned buildings.
Among sites receiving new lighting fixtures are Van Nuys Superior Courts and the courthouse parking complex, county offices in Lancaster, Santa Anita courts and Patriotic Hall in Los Angeles, said Howard Choy, manager of the county’s Energy Management Division. The Antelope Valley Civic Center will get an air-conditioning system.
In May, the supervisors approved a list of 13 sites where old fixtures will be replaced, including the 2,620-acre Peter J. Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic.
