Friday Gala Will Start Hollywood Bowl Season

The Hollywood Bowl’s 2001 season kicks off Friday at 8:30 p.m. with the second annual Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame Gala, featuring the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Stevie Wonder, Marilyn Horne, Bonnie Raitt, John Raitt and Monty Python’s Eric Idle. $15 to $75; reception and dinner, $200 to $1,250.
Next week, the orchestra plays Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., at the “July 4th Fireworks Spectacular.”
Other Bowl events this weekend: 7 p.m. Saturday, “Sing-a-Long Sound of Music” (see story, Page 14) and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, “Global Divas” with Cesaria Evora and Bebel Gilberto, hosted by Chris Douridas.
The Bowl season continues through Sept. 22, with events virtually every night.
