A fleeing robbery suspect was shot and wounded by police after a car chase that began in Culver City and ended in South-Central Los Angeles.
Shots were fired by officers during a foot pursuit near 43rd Street and Normandie Avenue, police said. Police surrounded the area about 7:20 p.m. to search for the suspect, said Officer Don Cox, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman.
The suspect was taken into custody about 8:30 p.m. in the 4200 block of Brighton Avenue, Cox said. He was taken to a hospital suffering from gunshot wounds, said Officer Maria Marquez of the LAPD’s 77th Division.
His condition was not available late Sunday night, Marquez said.
