* Re “Overture by Taliban Hits Resistance,” March 16: Are the Taliban of Afghanistan really so stupid that they think we Americans are so stupid that we could be swayed by their goodwill ambassador Sayed Rahmatullah Hashemi? I don’t think so. My heart goes out to the people of Afghanistan, but it is time for the Taliban to step out of the early part of the first millennium and into the 21st century.
