14 Die in Shootings in Jammu and Kashmir

Fourteen people have been killed in separatist violence in India’s northern state of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.
An army officer and three police officers were among seven people killed in a gun battle between security forces and separatists in Akhnur, west of Jammu. Elsewhere, five separatists and two others were killed.
Officials say more than 30,000 people have been killed in separatist violence in the Himalayan region since 1990.
