Rancho Cucamonga 24, Alta Loma 21--Jeffery Essig kicked a 37-yard field goal with a little more than a minute to play to give the Cougars (6-2, 4-0) a victory at Chaffey College and no worse than a share of the Mt. Baldy League title.
With the score tied, 21-21, late in the fourth quarter, Rancho Cucamonga quarterback Gerald Alexander marched the Cougars on a seven-play drive to the Braves’ 35-yard line, but the drive stalled and Alta Loma (3-6, 3-1) took over on downs.
Two plays later, Brave quarterback Ryan Stickler was intercepted by Brandon Fractious and he returned the ball to the Alta Loma 36-yard line with six minutes to play to set up the game-winning kick.
