La Palma Kennedy 34, Anaheim Loara 14--Sophomore quarterback Robert Becker completed 11 of 15 passes for 263 yards and four touchdowns as Kennedy (6-2, 4-0) took control of the Empire League race.
Becker threw three touchdown passes in the first half--all to senior John Branham--helping Kennedy build a 28-7 halftime lead. Branham caught six passes for 165 yards and touchdowns of 54, 36 and 47 yards.
Becker hit Rhema McKnight on a 12-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter to make it 34-7. McKnight finished with five receptions for 89 yards and also rushed for 62 yards, including a seven-yard touchdown in the first half.
Sam Weicks rushed for 178 yards, including a 24-yard touchdown, in 34 carries for Loara (3-5, 3-1). Weicks’ touchdown brought Loara to within 14-7, but the Saxons would get no closer.
Jason Farquar recovered two fumbles and Scott Clark had two sacks for Kennedy.
