Anthrax Scare: Replace Snail Mail With E-Mail
- Share via
My proposed solution to avoid being victimized by terrorism (anthrax, letter bombs, etc.) is to replace conventional postal mail with e-mail exclusively. Yes, we are in the 21st century, and today sending paper (checks, bills, letters, solicitations, etc.) is archaic. Replace checks with bank debits/credits. Solutions to problems aren’t always easy, but this solution is doable, even if the changes are immediately inconvenient. In the longer run, I believe it will be cost-efficient as well. For those who do not have computers to receive e-mail, I propose we set up stations with computers for public use.

It’s vitally important that we remember that the purpose of terrorism is to terrorize. Evidently, they have succeeded. Americans are buying gas masks and stocking up on Cipro. We must remember that more of us are killed each day on our highways than are at risk from anthrax. I, for one, refuse to let them affect how I live my life.
