Palos Verdes Peninsula 11, Beverly Hills 7--Riza Zalameda swept at No. 1 singles for Beverly Hills, but Peninsula, The Times’ No. 1-ranked team, defeated the No. 4 Normans, 11-7, in a Bay League match.
Peninsula is 16-2 overall and 7-0 in league, while Beverly Hills is 12-4 overall and 5-2 in league.
In boys’ water polo:
Anaheim Servite 11, Riverside Poly 9--Vince Bevins stole a pass and scored an empty-net goal with less than 15 seconds to play to seal the nonleague victory for No. 2 Servite (16-2).
Bevins and Pat Buckner each had four goals for Servite. Eric Qualls had five goals for No. 9 Poly (17-2), which trailed 9-5 after three quarters but rallied to within 10-9.
In girls’ golf:
No. 4 Anaheim Esperanza vs. No. 1 Huntington Beach Marina--The Sunset League match was completed under protest after a player was called for, and disputed, a one-stroke penalty.
