Post Office Lifts Ban on Accepting Foreign Mail

The Postal Service is again accepting mail from other nations, ending a ban on foreign parcels in the wake of the attacks.
People should expect delays of as long as three days on most foreign mail, a Postal Service spokesman said.
All facets of the service’s operations have been hampered.
Transportation Secretary Norman Y. Mineta said that no cargo or mail is allowed in passenger aircraft holds. He did not say when that ban would be lifted. About a quarter of the nation’s mail is delivered by air.
The Postal Service is also contracting out mail delivery to Federal Express.
