New Fair Board Members Named

Gov. Gray Davis named six new members to the Ventura County Fair Board.
The new directors are Patrick Askay, 80, of Ventura, a former business manager and assistant to the fair manager from 1975 to 1982. He replaces Charles Schwabauer.
Greg Carson, 43, of Ventura, a former Ventura mayor and city councilman from 1991 to 1995. He replaces Earl McPhail.
William Gallaher, 54, of Ventura, a firefighter with Oxnard’s Fire Department, replaces Virginia Weber.
Ginger Gherardi, 58, of Santa Paula, executive director of the Ventura County Transportation Commission since 1989. She replaces Robert Frost.
Robert Guillen, 63, of Oxnard, executive secretary and business manager of the Ventura County Building and Construction Trades. He replaces Thomas Pecht.
Leah Lacayo, 59, of Newbury Park, a part-time employee at Newbury Park High School. She replaces Tony Grey.
The nine-member board also includes Georgia Mahan, Gloria Postel and Dan Pinkerton, whose terms will expire in January.
