Humberto, in Atlantic, Upgraded to Hurricane

Tropical Storm Humberto strengthened into a hurricane, but was churning in the Atlantic Ocean and posed no immediate threat to land.
Reconnaissance planes discovered that Humberto had achieved winds of slightly more than 100 mph, according to Martin Nelson, a meteorologist at the National Hurricane Center in Miami. However, the system was expected to weaken today and “only remain a threat to shipping,” he said.
