Segerstrom Development Gets Planners’ Approval

The Planning Commission has approved the Home Ranch development and sent the plan to the City Council, which will conduct public hearings on the 93-acre project proposed by C.J. Segerstrom & Sons.
The first is scheduled for Oct. 15.
The plan for the property, once the homestead of the Segerstrom family, calls for 192 single-family homes, as well as industrial, office and retail space. The site, now a lima bean field, is bounded by Sunflower Avenue, the San Diego Freeway, Fairview Road and Harbor Boulevard.
The developer has agreed to make traffic improvements and provide a $2-million endowment for schools in the area.
