County Explores Ways to Help Reservists on Staff

Officials are evaluating what steps they might take to help military reservists who are Orange County employees avoid financial problems should they be called to active duty.
County Supervisors Todd Spitzer and Jim Silva asked administrators this week to explore options that would allow employees to fulfill military obligations without losing vacation or sick time, or suffering financially. A preliminary report is due Tuesday.
County Executive Michael Schumacher said his staff had already been researching the issue. It was not immediately clear how many county employees could be affected.
