The MRI on Malaefou MacKenzie’s injured knee turned out negative, meaning he can resume rehabilitation. The senior tailback said he was relieved but knows he has an uncertain recovery ahead.

The team got more good news Thursday as safety Antuan Simmons returned to practice and ran well. Defensive lineman Bobby DeMars was back from a stinger. Even fullback Chad Pierson, out since spring football because of a back injury, returned to the field for light duty.
