Santa Ana’s Muniz to Coach Cross-Country

Louie Muniz, Santa Ana High’s track and field coach, will also coach the school’s boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams. Muniz replaces Darel Newman, who retired last spring.
Former longtime Santa Ana Valley Coach George Payan will serve as the boys’ assistant under Muniz.
In other coaching news:
* Cal State L.A. announced that Isabelle Harvey will be the interim coach of men’s and women’s soccer this year. Harvey, a national team player for Canada, joined the Golden Eagle coaching staff last year as an assistant. Harvey takes over for Santo Rivas, who resigned in April for personal reasons.
Cal State L.A. also hired Gary Plunkett as an assistant women’s basketball coach and recruiting coordinator. Plunkett spent the last two seasons as a men’s assistant basketball coach.
