Re “Escalating the War Against Predator Pike,” Feb. 4: Why waste the Department of Fish and Game’s resources in a futile fight against natural selection? Darwin was right: If northern pike made their way into Lake Davis and overcame the other fish who lived there, that’s survival of the fittest. Best to face it and learn to appreciate the northern pike. If there is to be a war between the state of California and the forces of evolution, my money’s on evolution.
