Lockheed Settles Damage Claims

Lockheed Martin Corp. has settled 40 federal claims by Burbank residents who say they or their properties were damaged by chemicals emitted from the former Skunk Works plant, a company spokeswoman said Wednesday. She declined to say how much Lockheed will pay or the terms of the settlement agreement.
The trial began earlier this month in U.S. District Court in downtown Los Angeles.
The settlement will resolve three personal-injury claims and one wrongful-death claim, plus a separate negligence claim by another Burbank neighbor.
In addition, 35 plaintiffs whose claims were thrown out of court but who could appeal will be included in the settlement, Rymer said.
