1 Killed, 2 Injured in 2-Car Collision

A 79-year-old Newport Beach woman died in an Irvine traffic accident that might have been caused by a car running a red light, police reported Sunday.
Mae Peterson was killed about 8:30 p.m. Saturday at MacArthur Boulevard and Jamboree Road, coroner’s officials said. She was a passenger in a car driven by a 92-year-old Newport Beach woman.
The car collided in the intersection with a sedan driven by a 69-year-old Laguna Beach man, who suffered neck and back injuries.
The 92-year-old woman suffered chest injuries and was listed in stable condition Sunday.
