Northern Sphere Is OK by This Irvine Resident
- Share via
I have lived in Irvine for more than 20 years. I have raised my family here; I have made my living here; my wife and I are growing old together here.
I strongly believe that what makes Irvine special is the working relationship between the city of Irvine and the Irvine Co.--sometimes antagonistic, sometimes cooperative, but always creative--that has resulted in the planning and development of America’s finest master-planned community. Sure, some people complain about the “sameness” and the fact that there’s no central downtown, but most residents are happy, secure and tickled pink with their property values.
With the horrible plan for the international airport now dead, I am very comfortable with the concept for the so-called Northern Sphere. It means open space instead of tarmac space, new schools instead of new hangars, and new homes instead of new flight paths.
Irvine was recently named one of the safest cities in the nation and is one of the most visited--and emulated--master-planned communities in the world. As a longtime Irvine resident, I feel lucky to be living here.
