Sheriff’s deputies searching for human remains in hills north of Santa Clarita on Wednesday came under fire, authorities said.
No one was hit by the rifle shots, which occurred about 8:15 p.m. in the 14800 block of Sierra Highway, Deputy Rich Pena said.
“From somewhere on a hillside rifle fire started coming in. They were pinned down for a bit,” Pena said.
