Liaw, Wooding, Im Win in U.S. Junior Golf

Defending champion Henry Liaw of Rowland Heights won his opening match at the U.S. Junior Amateur Championships at Atlanta Athletic Club’s Highlands Course in Duluth, Ga., on Thursday. Liaw defeated Tom Guillebeau of Hockessin, Del., 8 and 6.
Josh Wooding of Riverside and Daniel Im of La Mirada also advanced to the round of 32. Wooding beat Greg Carlin of Kensington, Md., 1-up, and Im beat Benjamin Alvarado of Chile, 5 and 4.
Kevin Larsen of Santa Barbara lost on the 21st hole to Dan Cleckner of Spring, Texas.
