$1-Million Gift Benefits Latino Nursing Students
- Share via
Tenet Healthcare Foundation awarded a four-year, $1-million grant Friday to support Latino nursing students at local colleges in the Los Angeles region.
The foundation is the charitable arm of Tenet Healthcare Corp., which in the past week has announced the sale of one of its area hospitals and weathered a nurses strike at another.
Officials hope to increase the percentage of Latino health-care professionals, which recent studies show is less than 4% in California.
The grant will cover tuition and living expenses for students through the East Los Angeles Community Union Education Foundation, established nearly 20 years ago to boost Latinos’ college graduation rates.
