Bush Advisor Discusses Air Pollution Problems

An aide in the Bush administration says there needs to be a solution to the Central Valley’s air pollution problems, but one that doesn’t penalize businesses.
Ruben Barrales, the president’s deputy assistant and director of intergovernmental affairs, said businesses will expand, “and we need to deal with air quality. But I don’t have the solution.”
Barrales met with city and business leaders in Merced, Modesto and Stockton on Thursday at the invitation of state Sen. Dick Monteith (R-Modesto).
