A man who killed a woman who disappeared two days before she was to testify against him in a rape case was sentenced to death in a Grand Rapids court.
Marvin Charles Gabrion II was convicted of murder on federal property in the death of Rachel Timmerman, 19, whose bound body was found in 1997 in a lake in Manistee National Forest.
Timmerman and her 11-month-old daughter disappeared June 3, 1997, two days before Timmerman was to testify in a rape case she filed against Gabrion, 48. The daughter has never been found.
Gabrion has denied any role in Timmerman’s death.
