No Beer in Class

A reader commented on the photo (letter, Sept. 22) that accompanied the Sept. 18 feature story on the California Maritime Academy’s training ship, the Golden Bear. The picture showed alcoholic beverages being carried aboard the ship. For the record, alcohol is not allowed on board while the vessel is underway as a classroom at sea. The supplies being loaded were for a community reception the ship was hosting that day for alumni and friends while docked at the port of Long Beach.
I hope your sharp-eyed readers otherwise enjoyed the wonderful story about the excellent education and training CSU students receive at the California Maritime Academy.
