A collision in Laguna Hills late Wednesday left a 7-month-old boy critically injured and Orange County sheriff’s deputies were searching for the driver, who ran from the scene.
The accident on Santa Vittoria Drive near Camino Jalisco occurred shortly after 9 p.m., when a southbound Honda CRX crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a northbound vehicle, said a Sheriff’s Department spokesman.
The driver of the Honda ran from the scene, leaving the injured boy in the car, he said.
The boy was taken to Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center in Mission Viejo in extremely critical condition, the spokesman said.
Sheriff’s deputies in patrol cars, in a helicopter and using bloodhounds were searching the area for the driver, who ran into a nearby creek bed.
No one else was believed to be seriously injured in the collision, authorities said.
