2 Abductees Freed; 9 Suspects Are Held

Police have arrested nine suspected kidnappers after the separate releases of an abducted teenager and a businesswoman, officials said. Lourdes Santiago, a businesswoman, had been snatched by unidentified men in Angeles city. Three suspects were arrested in that case.
In the central city of Iloilo, a 13-year-old Chinese Filipino high school student was freed eight days after he was abducted, police said. Six of his suspected kidnappers, including a dismissed policeman, were arrested. No ransom was paid.
