From Times Wire Reports
Nine people died of severe acute respiratory syndrome in March in the province of Guangdong, officials said, as the U.S. State Department authorized nonessential employees and family members to leave.
The reports came as Canada reported its fifth and sixth deaths from the illness, known as SARS, and Hong Kong put 240 people in quarantine camps in an effort to stem its spread.
The deaths brought the number of acknowledged deaths in China to at least 43, and the worldwide toll to 70.
