Drug Link Suspected in 9 Torture Slayings

Nine people were tortured and killed near the border city of Nuevo Laredo in apparent drug-related violence, police said. Officers suspect the violence is part of a struggle for control of the region’s narcotics trade.
Four of the bodies were found in a car 12 miles outside of town. In a second car, found on another highway 25 miles from Nuevo Laredo, police found five bodies. Police believe the victims may have been taken from a Nuevo Laredo house Tuesday.
