Large Scale Biology Corp. named Kevin J. Ryan, a former president of the Vacaville, Calif., biotech firm, as its president and chief executive. Robert L. Erwin is stepping down as CEO but will remain chairman. John D. Fowler Jr. resigned as its president to join Baycrest Capital, a private investment firm.
Large Scale is trying to produce biotech drugs in tobacco plants and its most advanced experimental product is a vaccine to treat non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The firm has only 11 months of cash remaining. The board tapped Ryan to accelerate the pace of product commercialization deals.
