Officials Plan to Raze Vacation Cabins

From Times wire reports
Contra Costa County officials want to demolish an enclave of makeshift vacation cabins on a Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta island, sending part-time residents scrambling for a reprieve.
The case pits the homeowners -- self-described islanders who have retreated to the spot in the county’s southeast corner for more than a decade -- against officials who argue that the structures violate electrical, water and safety codes.
The 17-acre island, zoned for one structure, has 37. Demolition may begin this month.
