A 46-year-old Apple Valley man fleeing from an officer was killed Monday when his car struck a light pole and ignited, authorities said.
The crash occurred at 5:14 a.m., just a few minutes after a San Bernardino County sheriff’s sergeant questioned the man in a grocery store parking lot.
The man told the sergeant he didn’t have identification and gave a name and date of birth. When the sergeant went to his patrol car to check, the man sped away, authorities said.
