City to Receive Funds to Combat Asthma

The city of Oakland will receive federal funding from the national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to implement a school-based program to fight asthma.
The $5-million, five-year grant will support a local program called Oakland Kicks Asthma, Rep. Barbara Lee said.
Asthma rates in Oakland are among the highest in the nation.
