Taking Caution’s Side

We cannot blame our government for the problems described in “A Flawed Terrorist Yardstick” (Dec. 21). After 9/11 we are on terror alert and looking for any suspicious activity that might be terrorist-related. Ali Alubeidy was involved in a driver’s license scam, which could have seen terrorist activity.
The government will make some mistakes in arresting and detaining people that we suspect of terrorism but who are not guilty. Alubeidy should be glad that he was picked up in this country on suspicion of terrorist activity and not on suspicion of doing anything against the government of the country he came from, Iraq.
