NEWARK, N.J. — Police were searching for suspects Saturday in a pair of apparently unrelated nightclub shootings in Newark and in Brooklyn that left four people dead and seven wounded.
In the first incident, a man entered the Cave Lounge, a Newark neighborhood bar, late Friday and opened fire, killing three people and wounding three others.
A woman and a man died at the scene and another man died at a hospital. A man and a woman remained hospitalized in critical condition Saturday; a sixth victim, a woman, was treated and released.
About three hours later, in Brooklyn, five people were shot following a dispute at a private party at Charlena’s Chateau. Chantel Bailey, 17, was shot in the chest and later died in a hospital. Four others, including a girl, 17, who was struck in the neck, were hospitalized with bullet wounds.
Newark Police Lt. Derek Glenn said nothing was found linking the shootings.
