UNCASVILLE, Conn. — Taj McWilliams-Franklin made a layup with 3.3 seconds left to give the Connecticut Sun a 69-67 victory over the Sacramento Monarchs Friday night in front of 4,038.
The winning play was nearly identical to McWilliams-Franklin’s buzzer-beater in Connecticut’s 65-63 victory over Washington on June 24.
The Sun (8-8) rallied from a 16-point deficit late in the first half by stepping up its defense and outrebounding the much taller Monarchs, 20-11, in the second half.
Nykesha Sales led Connecticut with 22 points. McWilliams-Franklin finished with 12. Katie Douglas and Brooke Wyckoff each had nine rebounds.
Yolanda Griffith led Sacramento (7-9) with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
