Seat Belt Saves Life

Re “Mother, Daughters Remembered,” July 15: This tragic accident on the Pomona Freeway on the way to church probably was unavoidable. However, the death of four members of one family was not.
The only survivor, with minor bruises, was wearing a seat belt. At age 12, she was the only one with a seat belt holding her body inside the car, which saved her life. Mother, 33, and daughters, 14 and 13, may have been too nonchalant to wear one. As for the 3-year-old, who or what was responsible for her not wearing one? Faith?
The headline of this story would be more down-to-earth if it were “A Seat Belt Saves the Life of a 12-Year-Old Girl.”
