Reading about ‘The Hulk’ was a heavy assignment

MANOHLA Dargis’ review of “The Hulk” (“Taming a Demon,” June 20) had to be the most overwritten, pretentious waste of space I’ve ever read in my life. It reeked of condescending know-it-all-ism in its first few sentences, with misplaced and gratuitous references to Kennedy, Khrushchev, Sigmund Freud, Sophocles and Herr Doktor.
Is Dargis trying to impress us with a who’s who of her historical knowledge in a movie review?
I’ve seen “The Hulk,” but I don’t know what’s worse, the film or Dargis’ attempt to review it. Clearly neither should have been allowed out of the box.

AFTER reading the review of “The Hulk” I could only gather that Kermit was right when he said, “It’s not easy being green.”
